POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW

Research Interests:

Dr. Durdana Khan is a trained medical physician with a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Behavior and Health Promotion from The Ohio State University, and a PhD in Health Sciences from York University in Toronto, Canada. Her academic and research trajectory is deeply rooted in her commitment to understanding and addressing the social determinants of health—the conditions in which individuals are born, grow, live, work, and age.

Dr. Khan’s research focuses on the intersection of environmental exposures and public health, particularly how these factors influence physical, mental, and reproductive health outcomes across the lifespan. Her work on the health impacts of shift work among aging populations has garnered widespread recognition, including coverage in People Magazine and The Washington Post.

Currently, Dr. Khan is engaged in postdoctoral research examining environmental exposures such as fluoride and their potential effects on neurodevelopment in children in the United States. Her emerging interest lies in exploring the role of fluoride accumulation in tooth dentin as a biomarker for neurodevelopmental outcomes, aiming to bridge gaps between environmental health, pediatric development, and preventive medicine.

Dr. Khan brings a multidisciplinary perspective to her work, combining clinical insight with public health expertise and a strong foundation in health sciences research. She is committed to advancing evidence-based strategies that promote health equity and improve population health outcomes.
